Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how IPAddress-Lookup.com ("IPAddress-Lookup.com", "we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our website and the IP address lookup and network tools it provides. We keep the personal information we process to the minimum needed to run the service.

By using IPAddress-Lookup.com, you agree to the practices described here. It applies to all visitors and to all of our tools — What Is My IP, IP lookup and geolocation, DNS lookup, IP blacklist (DNSBL) check, the SSL certificate checker, and the subnet calculator. We also encourage you to read our Cookie Policy.

I. Information We Collect

Your IP address

Because the core purpose of this site is to show and analyze IP addresses, your public IP address is central to the service. When you open the site, we detect the IP address your connection is using so we can display it along with its approximate location and network. To show both your IPv4 and IPv6 addresses, your browser also makes requests to our ipv4. and ipv6. subdomains, which simply reflect back the address seen on each connection. We do not build a profile of you or link your IP address to your identity.

Addresses and domains you look up

When you use the lookup, DNS, blacklist or SSL tools, the IP address, domain, or host you enter is processed to return a result. Some of these lookups are sent to third-party services (see Section III). We do not require an account and we do not keep a history of your searches — queries are processed in real time and are not stored beyond any short-lived technical cache.

Approximate location and service provider

To provide geolocation, we use:

  • Your (or the looked-up) IP address with a locally hosted MaxMind GeoLite2 database to estimate city, region, and country. No data is sent to MaxMind to perform this lookup.
  • The third-party service ipwho.is to determine the internet service provider (ISP) and network (ASN). The result is cached on our server for a short period to avoid repeated lookups.

Maps

When approximate coordinates are available, we may display a map from OpenStreetMap. Loading that map causes your browser to contact openstreetmap.org, which will receive your IP address as part of the request, subject to their own privacy policy.

Analytics

We may use a privacy-focused, self-hosted web analytics tool to understand how the site is used and improve it. Where used, it is configured to anonymize IP addresses so individual visitors cannot be identified, and the data stays on our own infrastructure and is never sold or shared for advertising.

Advertising

IPAddress-Lookup.com may display advertising to help cover the cost of running the service. Where ads are shown, third-party advertising partners may set cookies to deliver and measure ads. These are only set with your consent where the law requires it, and you can decline them. See our Cookie Policy.

II. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Detect and display your IP address, geolocation, and network details.
  • Resolve the IP addresses, domains, and hosts you choose to look up.
  • Operate, maintain, secure, and improve the website and its tools.
  • Understand overall traffic through anonymized analytics.
  • Where applicable and with consent, display and measure advertising.

We do not sell your personal information.

III. Sharing and Third Parties

We do not share personal data except as needed to provide the service or as required by law. The third parties involved are:

  • ipwho.is — receives an IP address (yours, or one you look up) to return the ISP and network.
  • MaxMind GeoLite2 — a local database used for approximate location; no data is transmitted to MaxMind.
  • OpenStreetMap — receives your IP address when a map is displayed in your browser.
  • Advertising partners — only where ads are shown and where you have consented to advertising cookies.

IV. Data Retention

We do not retain the IP addresses, domains, or lookups you process beyond the short cache needed to serve results. Any analytics data is kept only as long as necessary to understand usage trends.

V. Your Rights

An IP address can be personal data under laws such as the GDPR. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Because we do not keep a history of lookups or store your IP address alongside identifying information, we usually cannot single out a specific individual. If you have a request or question about your data, please contact us through our contact form.

VI. Data Security

We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the limited information we process against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. If a data breach affects users, we will act promptly to contain it and notify affected users where required by law.

VII. Children's Privacy

IPAddress-Lookup.com is a general-audience tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

VIII. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the revised version on this page with a new effective date. Your continued use of the website after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

IX. Contact Us

If you have any questions, requests, or concerns about this Privacy Policy or how we handle your data, please reach out through our contact form.
